Ceres - Goddess of Harvest and Wheat

The story of agriculture is the story of civilization. When we could grow our own food, modern life as we know it became possible.

The Roman goddess Ceres represented the divine power of agriculture and grain. The name comes from the Latin root “cer,” which means “to grow.”

Ceres guided practices around agriculture, helping people learn how to plan for harvest. Thus, she was seen as an advocate for and protector of the working classes.
